The old man and the sea is a touching book. After reading this book, I cant help but be impressed by the spirit of the old man.

The author of the old man and the sea is Ernest Hemingway. He is the most dazzling legendary writer in American history and the winner of Nobel Prize.

"The old man and the sea" mainly describes an old man who went fishing in the sea and caught a very big fish. But because of this big fish, four sharks were attracted. The old man defeated four sharks with his indomitable spirit, but the big fish only had bones. On the way, the old man experienced hunger and death He fought against all kinds of difficulties, misfortunes and demons with his fearless spirit and perseverance, and finally returned to the shore. 一、活动激发兴趣，情境适当调控。

《小学英语教与学》指出：活动是转变教与学方式的关键，只有课堂动起来，学生的思维才能活起来。要想激发学生的学习兴趣，就要力求使学生处于动眼、动手、动口的主体激活状态。因为充满趣味性的情境教学，可极大调动眼、耳、口、手的动作。在初级阶段，教师可以给学生一些提示，让学生在丰富的教学情境作用下，使学生很快达到情绪的兴奋，主动探求知识，主动解决悬念、困惑的方法或途径，主动研究问题；在有了一些基础后，可以让学生根据自己的爱好、想象创造动作、情景，创造性的解决问题。学生在愉快的创造、想象过程中，身心比较放松，主体意识大大增强，潜移默化地使自己增长了知识，拓展了思维空间。

精彩、恰当的表情和动作能引起孩子的注意，让复杂的东西变得简单起来。英语是语言教学，英语教学更需要丰富的面部表情和肢体动作的配合。教师亲切而自信的目光、期待而专注的眼神可以使学生产生安全感，消除恐惧感，缩短教师与学生的感情距离。教师热情洋溢的微笑、友善慈祥的面容可以使学生获得最直观、最形象、最真切的感受；潇洒得体的身姿手势，无时不在感染着学生，可以使学生加深对知识点的理解、记忆，引导学生全身心地投入到情境中去。

《小学英语教与学》第一章将如何以各种教法激发学生的学习兴趣。教学上要不断变换教学内容的呈现方式，让学生感受到英语学习的多姿多彩，就能激起孩子对英语本身的兴趣。在课堂英语教学（尤其在起始阶段）中，我常常采用书中所指导的各种方法，如故事与歌谣教学（或唱英语歌）、游戏教学、课前或课后猜谜语等教学方法来创设情景，激发学生的学习兴趣。

在一年级的教材中，有很多单词教学是与歌谣教学相结合的，可爱的英语歌谣自身富有音乐节奏，抑扬顿挫的语音语调具有一定的吸引力，让学生感到是在欣赏一首动听的歌曲。我发现一些单词对于一年级的小学生来说很难记住，那么怎样让单词教学吸引学生呢？我就把一个个单词编在一起，成为一个个小故事，这些小故事轻松有趣，又有一定的教育意义。再把这些小故事用电脑课件做出来，辅以教师自身的素质和充满激情的教学，如丰富的表情，幽默的语言，大方得体的教态，这每一举手一投足，使整个课堂就宛如一场生动的故事会，学生从中体味无穷，不知不觉中他们的兴趣和听说能力就有了较大的提高。再用简单的歌谣说出来，孤立的单词之间有了联系，有了情景，有了韵律，就变得简单易学多了。

如在教授一年级下册第五单元Let’ssay中的单词时，我就讲了这样一个故事：一只昆虫（aninsect）出国了，带回来好多东西，看：他穿着夹克衫（ajacket），吃着冰激凌（anice—cream），开着吉普车（ajeep）回来了。但昆虫（aninsect）是一个粗心的人，把冰激凌（anice—cream）弄了一夹克衫（ajacket），它赶紧擦啊擦啊，可是他忘了它还开着吉普车（ajeep），哎呀，快看！他的车（ajeep）翻了！他也哭了！我一边用充满感情的生动的语言和夸张的表情讲故事，一边用电脑课件把它演示出来，学生也跟着我的故事做出各种相应的表情，并产生了强烈的学习的欲望。这是我适时地把歌谣说出来：insect吃着ice—cream，穿着jacket，开着jeep；ice—cream撒了，jacket脏了，jeep翻了，insect哭了！学生们情不自禁的一边和我说、一边做出可爱的动作和表情，枯燥的单词变得生动有趣、琅琅上口，学生很快就记熟了单词，同时也懂得了粗心带来的后果。

在看到创设情境教学收到好的效果后，我又在教授第十一单元Let’ssay时如法炮制，设计了一个卡通的大西瓜，它有好几只手，它要出去旅游，一只戴手表，一只手拉小提琴，一只手打着伞，边走边唱：watermelon，watermelon，打着umbrella，拉着violin，看看watch！happy！学生们兴奋异常，跟着手舞足蹈，齐声吟唱。同时，《小学英语教与学》告诉我们：创造是学生快乐的源泉，因此，我鼓励孩子们自己编故事和歌谣，激发他们的创造性，提高他们的积极性。总之，在课堂教学活动中，教师若能把一些枯燥的、但具有一定联系的知识编成一个个简单易学的'顺口溜，学生就会爱学，知识也会易学。教师和学生由于轻松学会知识而产生的积极向上、欢乐愉快的情绪又在潜移默化中更加激发学生学习英语的兴趣和热情。

四、充分利用教材内容创设情境。

小学英语教材从突出对学生的兴趣培养出发，教材本身蕴含着丰富的情境内容。教师应如何充分利用这些情境呢？《小学英语教与学》倡导任务型教学，教师可以为学生搭好平台，创造性的对书中的情境加以运用，让学生在教学活动中参与和完成真实的任务，就会收到很好的效果。

如一年级的上册的第六单元是Happybirthday！，我就让学生开了个Birthdayparty，我让学生自己设计情境，发挥自己的想象力，分成各种不同的过生日角色，来练习本课的会话。他们设计的都很有创意，每组都有每组的精彩所在。在原有的会话内容中，加入所学的知识，将枯燥的会话演绎得别有生色，再加上毛茸玩具和生日蛋糕等道具，使课堂气氛一下子活跃起来，学生积极动脑去想、动手去做、动口大胆的去说，创造性思维很好的发挥出来。

At least Jane doesn’t think so. She is not pretty; she is not rich; she is a mere ordinary governess, so what? As an individual human existence, she has dignity as well as anyone else, so she deserves the chance to love and to be loved as well as anyone else! Despite her short, delicate body, her soul is not the least weaker than others’——even greater than most of them. The moment she said the three powerful words to Mr. Rochester proudly and steadily, her pale face must have been sparkling with sacredness, which would have made her the most beautiful woman ever, because the beauty of independence is eternal. With this spirit of independence she not only gained herself love, respect and happiness but also proved to the world that nobody is second class——unless you believe yourself to be.

Hundreds of thousands of ordinary girls that usually get neglected in life——me included——love and admire Jane deeply because she inspires and encourages us to strive for our life goals against all odds bravely. Being an obscure girl herself, the author Charlotte Bronte was so generous as to have provided our dear Jane a Mr. Rochester who loves her just the way she is, appreciates her unique character and a kindhearted family （later proved to be her relatives） that took her in when she was helpless and offered her a job to support herself. In reality, not every Jane Eyre can meet the proper people at the right time, just as not every ugly duckling can turn into a graceful swan——it may depend on a matter of luck. If you are too obsessed with fairy tales, you are very likely to feel disappointed and deceived by the not-so-perfect everyday life. But what are fairy tales for? We love to read them and we tend to believe in them even though we know they are not real. Sometimes we do need a little romantic daydream as seasonings in the routine of life, and we also need an ideal to believe in, a creed to live by, and a northern star to show us directions on the long journey.
